This first attraction lets you get up close and personal with some of the most exotic creatures on Earth. The National Geographic Encounter Ocean Odyssey is one of the newest and most anticipated exhibits to premiere this Fall in the city!

When you visit this family-friendly walk through experience you will be within inches of humpback whales, great white sharks, sea lions, Humboldt squid, and tons of other animals you’ve probably never even heard of, all without even getting wet!

To add to all of that, the whole thing is located right in the middle of the city, in the heart of Times Square!  A visit to this unique aquatic adventure location would definitely add some spice to your New York student trip.

NFL Experience Times Square

This exciting new attraction allows visitors to get a closer look into the National Football League and to feel what it’s like to be a professional football player!  With interactive exhibits and hands-on challenges, the NFL Experience Times Square is a favorite for the football fanatic, the newcomer to the NFL, and anyone else who wants to put their skills to the test!

We’ve reached out to one of our friends at the NFL Experience Times Square to tell us a little more about it!

Q: What should student travelers be most excited for when visiting the NFL Experience Times Square?

A: “NFL Experience is a first-of-its-kind interactive and immersive attraction located in the heart of New York City that will bring student travelers closer than ever to the NFL and their favorite team. Combining immersive content, augmented reality, interactive displays, a state-of-the-art 4-D cinema and other multimedia effects, the experience takes visitors from the stands onto the field, transporting them from Kickoff through Playoffs, and ultimately, the Super Bowl.”

Q: What is the most mind-blowing fact about the NFL Experience Times Square?

A:NFL Experience offers student travelers a chance to step into the shoes of an NFL player! Fans can ‘Measure Up’ to the pros with a series of interactive challenges – including a vertical leap test and blocking dummies that compare guests’ power pushing to the best on the offensive and defensive lines. They can “Suit up” and customize their virtual uniform in the team of their choice and also test their skills by throwing a real football to their favorite receiver, feeling the thrill of a Super Bowl victory by completing the game-winning pass in the ‘Quarterback Challenge’.”

We think this one is definitely an attraction to consider checking out when you’re in New York!

Looking to develop your investigative skills and to learn about some of the world’s most prominent spy techniques in an interactive and immersive environment?  Look no further – we’ve found the place for you!

SPYSCAPE HQ, the Interactive Spy attraction designed by Adjaye Associate, is located just a stone’s throw from Time Square.  The building’s insides have been designed to model some of the most significant intelligence agencies in the world.  With the implementation of transparent materials, mirrors, weathered steel, and other materials, the museum takes visitors on an adventure, challenging their perceptions with unique vantage points and perspectives.

Our friend Anna from SPYSCAPE HQ was kind enough to share a little bit about the attraction with us!

In the heart of Midtown Manhattan, SPYSCAPE HQ will change the way you see the world. Immerse yourself in the secretive universe of intelligence agencies, hackers, code-breakers and investigative journalists. Developed with leading experts from international espionage agencies, hacking groups and more. World-class architecture, artifacts, design and technology combine to let you test your skills and discover your inner spy.”

The attraction illuminates a wide variety of methods used by spies, from the world of international espionage to modern day hacking, through a collection of rare artifacts.  The designs for the experience were created in collaboration with directors of major intelligence agencies and former member of hacking collectives to make the exhibits realistic and accurate.  SPYSCAPE HQ will be opening up for visitors in the December of 2017.

One World Observatory

Located within the One World Trade Center in Manhattan, the One World Observatory Experience is one of the most breathtaking and memorable activities in the city!  We’ve reached out to our friend there at the One World Trade Center, Brent Sindoni, to share with us a few cool details!

Q: What should student travelers be most excited for when visiting the One World Observatory?

A:When visiting One World Observatory, students should be excited about our Sky Pod elevators! As you step into the Sky Pod elevators, you’ll quickly realize that this isn’t your average elevator experience. With full-length digital screens on three sides, you’ll get a spectacular show that takes you on a journey through the development of the New York skyline from the 16th century right up to 2017. And don’t blink, because the ride takes only 47 seconds to race up to the 102nd floor. The fastest elevator run in the western hemisphere is also surprisingly smooth. Before you know it, you’re almost a quarter of a mile above New York!

Q: What is the most mind-blowing fact about the One World Observatory?

A:Building one of the safest and most technically advanced buildings in the world is a challenge, to say the least. Along with security issues, massive costs and weather issues, the project required a mind-blowing amount of materials: over 45,000 tons of structural steel, 1,300 workers per day and 200,000 cubic yards of concrete. That’s enough concrete to build a sidewalk from New York to Chicago!

If you’re hoping to make the most out of your New York Student Trip, consider including some of these fun new activities in your experience!  Give us a call and we’ll help you put together a package for your chapter, club, or another student group to visit the Big Apple!

There’s just so much to do in New York City!  Whether it’s good ol’ classics like the Met or Ellis Island, making your way over to some of these newer attractions, or maybe a little of both, the city definitely won’t disappoint!
