This year FBLA NLC will be held in fabulous Atlanta! The birthplace of the civil rights movements, juicy peaches, and Usher, Hotlanta is rich in history and culture. Needless to say we’re getting pretty pumped to plan our trips for FBLA NLC in June. Here’s what we’re thinking so far:
Stone Mountain Lasershow
Stone Mountain Park is a great outdoor space for a group of students to blow off some energy, and the laser show is SICK! They use lasers, digital graphics, and flames to create a one-of-a-kind experience. I think it’s safe to say that your hometown’s fireworks show will be sorely ruined after you witness a portrait of a bald eagle in the sky, surrounded by lasers and fireworks.
Chick-fil-A Home Office Backstage Tour
It wouldn’t be the south without fried chicken and Atlanta is home to the headquarters one of the most recognizable chicken brands in the country, Chick-fil-A. Their home office back tour is a fun way for FBLA students to experience corporate culture, learn about branding and business models.
Six Flags Over Georgia
Everyone needs a study break! Six Flags Over Georgia has a water park and a ton of rides, including the new Revolution Virtual Reality Coaster at Dare Devil Dive. This thing looks awesome.
If Disney is the happiest place on earth, then aquariums must be the second. The Georgia Aquarium has tons of cool exhibits and scheduled events for groups to attend. Plus they’re heavily involved in ocean conservation and research… because no one wants to live in a world without penguins.
Gladys Knight’s Chicken & Waffles
You can’t go to Atlanta without indulging in the best of southern comfort food. Chicken & waffles, fried green tomatoes, fried catfish, mac and cheese. I think I just drooled. Gladys Knight’s is famous for their southern food, and we might have a surprise up our sleeve to make this spot even more unique.
World of Coca-Cola
The World of Coca-Cola tends to be an Atlanta tourist hot spot. It can be a cool experience if you’re a die hard fan of the brand, but for the rest of us, it tends to be a little overrated. EXP pro tip: pass on this site in favor of some of the more unique spots on this list.
CNN Inside Tour
Another brand tour in Atlanta that is worth it is the CNN Inside Tour of their world headquarters. This tour provides students a behind-the-scenes look at the newsroom and the different CNN divisions. This is a memorable and educational site, especially for FBLA students!
Atlanta Braves Game
Get your peanuts and Cracker Jack. The famous Turner Field is slated to be demolished in 2017 so there are limited opportunities left to visit this historic site!
